A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Southern College of Optometry to compare the efficacy and the perceived ease of use, comfort and safety of the S5 Mini™ to the DMV® Vented Scleral Cup™ which is considered to be the gold standard lens insertion method.
Study highlights include:
- The S5 Mini™ helped participants insert their lenses with 2.8 fewer insertion attempts per eye compared to the DMV® Vented Scleral Cup™ (P < 0.0001).
- The time needed to successfully insert a lens with the DMV® was 50% longer than the time needed with the S5 Mini™.
- When asked to compare the DMV® Vented Scleral Cup™ to the S5 Mini™, participants rated the S5 Mini™ as:
- Safer ✓
- Easier to use ✓
- More comfortable ✓
- Having an easier learning curve ✓
